Smishing Alert in Our Area

Scammers are sending texts pretending to be local banks and urging you to click harmful links.
Remember: Solutions Bank will never text you asking you to click a link.
Always pause and verify the sender before responding to any unexpected message.
The images in the image above show examples of what these texts might look like, but keep in mind, fraudsters constantly change phone numbers, wording, and links.
They can also spoof caller ID, so even messages that appear to come from a trusted number might be fake. Also notice typos, odd punctuation and capitalization, and strange wording of messages.

Fraud Edu - Stay Safe: Stop & Verify

Scammers want you to act fast out of fear. Don’t let them! If you get a suspicious call or message, STOP and VERIFY via a trusted source.
Call your loved one or the company directly using a number you trust, not the one the caller gives you.

Beware of Tax Scams

With tax season upon us, it’s more important than ever to be aware of common tax scams and how to avoid them. Scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated, using tactics like IRS impersonation phone calls, phishing emails, fake websites, social media messages, smishing texts, and refund schemes to steal money and sensitive personal information. These scams often rely on fear, urgency, and official‑sounding language to pressure victims into acting quickly without verifying the source.
Our latest blog post breaks down how these scams work, the red flags to watch for, and the serious consequences of falling victim—including financial loss and identity theft. It also outlines practical steps you can take to protect yourself, explains how the IRS actually communicates with taxpayers, and details what to do if you believe you’ve been targeted or compromised. Staying informed and vigilant is one of the best ways to safeguard your finances during tax season.

Imposter Scams

In 2024 alone, Americans lost $2.95 billion to imposter scams. Imposter scams happen when criminals pretend to be trusted sources, like the FTC, a bank, or even a loved one, to pressure you into sending money or sharing personal information. Remember, the FTC will never ask for payment or promise you a prize.
As scams continue to grow, knowledge is your best defense to stay alert and protect yourself and those you care about. Solutions Bank offers free fraud education presentations throughout our communities. Stop in, give us a call, or request one here: solutions.bank/about-us/contact-connect.
